Pet thermography easily demonstrates primary, compensatory, and tertiary inflammation by noninvasively evaluating the blood supply to an injured region.
We are excited to announce that our Thermal Imaging Scanner is up and running at the Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond! Pet Thermography is a diagnostic tool that measures radiated energy, allowing us to evaluate changes in temperature of 1/2 degree Celsius or more conducted to the body’s surface. After visualizing inflammation or lack of circulation, our veterinarians can target and tailor their diagnostics and treatments more precisely for an improved outcome.
This physiologic evaluation complements clinical examination and other diagnostic imaging techniques such as radiology, ultrasonography, and MRI. It detects heat before it is perceptible during routine physical examination and thus is helpful for the early detection of OA, disc disease, and stress injuries. It will even register some neoplastic processes. Problematic areas can be detected before they manifest as disease or loss of mobility.
At IVC, we routinely use this modality to identify areas of inflammation or neurological dysfunction better and visualize the changes in circulation immediately following our treatments. If you have any questions about our Digital Thermal Imager, please contact us today!
