Pet Ozone Therapy
Ozone therapy is available at the Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond. It provides oxygen to assist mitochondria in running more efficiently and effectively, thereby supporting most complementary therapies. There is an increase in CO2 in the tissue where there is inflammation and oxygen aids healing. Ozone enhances our ability to help animals heal from infections, Lyme disease, pancreatitis, inflammation, cancer, and joint pain.
Ozone (O3) is an energized form of oxygen that contains three atoms of oxygen rather than the two atoms we normally breathe. Ozone is the second most powerful sterilizer in the world and can destroy bacteria and viruses. The body can eliminate toxins that would otherwise accumulate to harmful levels through oxidation when healthy. Oxidation is the process wherein a substance is changed due to the effects of oxygen upon it. Oxidation breaks the toxins down into carbon dioxide and water and eliminates them from the body. However, if the necessary oxygen is unavailable, our bodies cannot eliminate these toxins adequately, and a toxic reaction can occur. In minor cases, a toxic buildup can lead to fatigue, while a wide range of diseases can result when poor oxygenation is chronic.
